HYPED vs HYPE: Hype Network's Token Is Not Hyperliquid's

The short version. HYPED is the token you mine in the Hype Network app: an ERC-20 token on Polygon. HYPE is the token of Hyperliquid, a trading platform on its own blockchain. They are different tokens from unrelated projects, so a price you see for HYPE says nothing about your HYPED.

Why the two get mixed up

The names are close, and for a while the Hype Network app called its token HYPE too. With the new Hype Network, the token is HYPED everywhere we speak: HYPED is also the symbol the token carries on Polygon. If your app still shows HYPE, it is the same token and the same balance; the app update with the new name is on its way to Google Play.

Search engines and price sites treat "HYPE" as Hyperliquid's ticker. Other, unrelated tokens on other networks use names like HYPE or HYPED too. The only HYPED that belongs to Hype Network is the one at our contract on Polygon.

A HYPE price is not a HYPED price

When a price site or an exchange shows "HYPE", it is showing Hyperliquid's token. That number is not the value of the HYPED you mine, and buying HYPE on an exchange does not get you Hype Network's token. Hype Network doesn't publish price predictions for HYPED, and you should be careful with any site that does.

How to make sure you have the real HYPED

Hype Network's HYPED contract on Polygon is:

Check that the token you see uses this contract, on Polygon.
In your wallet, add the token by pasting this contract, not by searching for its name.
Open the token page on Polygonscan: the name reads Hype Network and the symbol HYPED.

Watch out for

"HYPE airdrop" or "HYPED claim" sites that ask you to connect your wallet.
Tokens with the same name on other networks, sent to your wallet unasked.
Anyone asking for your seed phrase. Hype Network never will.
